Historic Home Addition
Chelsea, MI

This historic Greek Revival home in Chelsea was built in 1858. Scott McElrath of Dangerous Architects used exemplary preservation practices in designing this addition to the home. A low “hyphen” wing connects the original house to the full two story addition. In this way, the addition does not give the false impression that it was part of the original home. Trim detailing matches existing, but the addition does not attempt to precisely mimic the Greek Revival style. The addition is compatible without misrepresenting the original architectural intent. Century Restoration worked as a framing and trim subcontractor on this project.
